A Gap Less Than an Inch: How Roof Rats Invade Washington County Homes

April 30, 20261 min read

They moved into this St. George home quietly.

No obvious signs at first. Then the homeowner noticed dark streaks along the garage baseboards - and heard something in the wall late at night.

When we arrived, we found the entry point almost immediately: a gap where the AC line ran through the exterior wall. Less than an inch. More than enough.

Roof rats had been using it like a front door.

We sealed the entry, placed tamper-resistant bait stations along the structure, and cleared the inside population.

Calls like this are up across Washington County right now. The dry winter pushed rats inside earlier and faster than usual.

If you're seeing signs - or just want to know if you're at risk - we're taking inspections now.
